    Don't miss the fun in July in Red Feather Lakes!

    JULY 2012

    July 14, 2012: Saturday, 1-4pm workshop, 4–5 pm lecture, 5pm BBQ 

    Title:  Land Stewardship Workshop (1-4pm) followed by COLORADO DIAMONDS lecture & BBQ 

    Presenter: Dr. Pete Modreski, US Geological Survey and ardent rockhound 

    Audience: General Audience

    Location: Red Feather Lakes Property Owners Association (RFLPOA) across from RFL Library. 

    Registration: no RSVP required, except for BBQ call 970-218-9685. North Fork Weed Coop BBQ starts immediately after at 5pm followed by RFL Bingo at 7pm

     

    July 16 – July 20, 2012: Monday – Friday, 9 – 11:30 am  

    Title: JR. ENVIRONMENTAL EXPLORERS WEEK There will be different exploration each morning.

    Monday – Wildflowers

    Tuesday – Water & Microbes

    Wednesday – Discovery hike

    Thursday – Natural Sounds and Colorado Black Bears

    Friday – Ecology and Geology Fun

    Presenters: Multiple presenters - featuring Cindy Henk (microbiologist and Colorado Native Plant Society member), Noah Newman (CoCoRaHS educator), National Park Service Natural Sounds Team, Linda Hamilton (naturalist with Lory State Park), and Project Wild and Project Learning Tree educators. 

    Audience: Student program – children & teens, 8 years and up.

    Location: Red Feather Lakes Elementary School and SEEC land  

    Registration: Registration required for all student programs. Call 970-218-9685 for information and reservations. Student may sign up for the whole week or individual days. Walk –in registrations possible.

     

    July 21, 2012: Saturday, 8am-1pm


    Title: KIDS FISH FREE AT WEST LAKE

    Audience: Ages 15 and under

    Location: USFS West Lake on Dowdy Lake Rd. & 74E in RFL

     

    July 21, 2012: Saturday, 2-8pm

    Title: Firefighter Fundraising Festival in Livermore

    Audience: General Audience

    Location: Livermore Community Hall off CR 74E

    Registration: none needed

     

    July 23 – 27, 2012: Monday – Friday, 9 – 11:30 am 

    Title: NEW WATERSHED AND ENERGY ADVENTURES

    New adventures each day. Please note that Watershed and Energy Adventures will be Monday through Thursday. Friday will GPS Geocaching.

    Presenters: Back by popular demand, the team from Fort Collins Utilities Water and Energy – Marcee Camenson, Sheena Pate and Jean Carpenter.

    Audience: Student program – children & teens, 8 years and up.

    July 27, 2012: Friday, 9 – 11:30 am 

    Title: GPS GEOCACHING - Explore this fun outdoor sporting activity. Geocache sites will be different from last year.

    Presenters: Rosemary Davenport and Alice Schiel, former teachers, avid hikers and outdoor enthusiasts

    Audience: Student program - elementary and middle school (entering grades 2 through grade 9). Parents are welcome to join the fun.

    Location:  Start at RFLE School, and then carpool to Molly Lake Trailhead.

    Registration: Registration required for all student programs. Call 970- 218-9685 for information and reservations. Walk-in registrations possible.

     

    August 10: Friday 8pm-11pm

    Title: ASTRONOMY PRESENTATION with viewing after presentation

    Presenter: Roger Appeldorn, member of NCAS and local astronomer 

    Audience: General Audience

    Location: Fox Acres, Red Feather Lakes

    Registration: Reservations recommended. Please contact the Library at 881-2664 to reserve your spot once date is finalized.
